The Sci-Fi Author Who Feared Science

It’s been an adventure, and I eventually completed that Science-Fiction novel (…well more like epic sci-fi fantasy novel). I no longer fear science or math for that matter, and even went on to co-host a science fiction podcast: Sci-Fi Carnival.

Twenty Sixteen among other things, was an election year in the United States and at the time one of the most brutal election cycles. I didn’t realize it, but I was shopping for an escape. I joined 1647 Blue tech-hub on Chicago’s south side because I enjoyed technology and wanted to be apart of it. Tech hub always had tech events going on, and I would attend some.

One day I attended an Afro-futurism lecture, and when it was over, I was determined to write a science fiction novel. Although black people have always been involved in science fiction, I hadn’t really considered black people’s place in a futuristic society or the infinite possibilities available to us through the portal of science fiction and fantasy.
